* This is the first of what I’m hoping becomes routine blog posts (aiming for 1-2 a month)- posts about my writing process, behind the scenes of what I’m writing, and more! Feel free to leave a comment below if there’s something you’d like me to write about!
Well, every year I say I’m not going to do it. And every year I attempt it. NaNoWriMo. For those of you who don’t know, it stands for National Novel Writing Month and it’s where writers around the world commit to writing 50k words during the month of November. (If it sounds crazy, it’s because it is!)
I lay in bed with my eyes closed tight, afraid to open them and see what kind of day it is. The lack of noise in my room is deafening, my alarm long since silenced. I ask my clock what time it is and its answer prompts a long sigh.
I need to get up and get ready for work.
I hesitantly crack my eyelids apart and see the room bathed in a reddish glow. The color is coming from a dense cloud of Red Fog choking the world outside my window.
The color of her blood is the least of his worries as another bullet ricochets off the floor near where she collapsed and embeds into the wall. He hooks his arm through hers and hauls her to her feet, smearing some of her shimmering white blood across his ebony skin.
As promised (granted it was two years ago, but I stuck to my promise!)- Changes are here!
In today’s world, information of all kinds is at our fingertips and the more I post, the more followers I gain. Using my real name made it easier for friends and family to find my writing but also leaves me vulnerable to internet predators.
For my personal safety, I have come to the decision to re-brand all of my writing under a pen name. At the time of this posting, my instagram name has been changed, website address is now changed, and my website redesign has been launched. Please update any bookmarks you may have to my site.
From now on, all my writing will be released under the name Maeryn Stills. (Pronounced “mare-in”)
If you know me personally, I apologize for any confusion this may cause but as my writing gets more popular, I would like to protect my privacy.
I have a few new short stories I’m finishing up, keep an eye out for them to be posted soon!!
